You know when you let your son study abroad in Europe, and he comes home wanting to build a craft spirits distillery?

Okay, maybe that’s just us…but that’s really how this whole thing started. The European city was London, the son was Chris Hanson, and the inspiration to make unique artisan spirits.

Meanwhile brother Brandon Hanson was living in LA, actor by day and bartender by night, crafting his own infusions and creating unusual and adventurous cocktails. Together they found a passion (or one might say an obsession) for making craft spirits. They joined forces, pitched siblings Darren and Alanna and their parents Scott and Judy on starting an artisanal spirit company, and the rest is history.

The lack of artisan craft vodka on the market gave us our niche, but it didn’t stop there. Our vision of an organic, grape-based, gluten-free and non-GMO vodka presented an opportunity for us to develop something truly unique that would give vodka drinkers everywhere the option to choose something different and (we think) better.


The embodiment of true artisan craft, Hanson of Sonoma distills in a combination pot and 50-plate column still to create a pure, clean, and above all tasty vodka.

Our vodka is always distilled from organic grapes and infused with real, organic ingredients.

Hanson Organic Vodka is the first of its kind, and the product of countless hours of research, testing, and plain old hard work. We hope you enjoy.

We can’t do it all ourselves.

To make organic vodka from grapes, first you have to make wine. Mastering two crafts is a heck of a feat, so we turned to our neighbors and mentors Ceja Vineyards to guide us through the process.

We would not be here without their expertise, generosity, and willingness to jump on board with our crazy endeavor. Not only are they extremely skilled in what they do (and willing to pass on their knowledge to us), they are also a family owned operation with three generations of winemaking in their blood.

We’re blessed and grateful for this community; without it, our organic, non-GMO, grape-based vodka would not be possible.

The Ceja Family works closely with the Hanson Family throughout the winemaking process, preparing the wine before it enters the Hanson still to become vodka.

Master winemaker Armando Ceja grew up learning from his parents, who worked the vineyards with Robert Mondavi and tended the famous ‘To Kalon’ Vineyard in Napa Valley. Now he is passing on that knowledge to his third-generation winemaker daughters, Belen and Ellie – and the Hanson family!
